The Delta State Innovation Hub (DS-IHUB) is having an open innovation hackathon from 7am on Thursday, December 1, to 3pm on Friday, December 3, 2016. The hackathon will be the first event of its kind in DS-IHUB since its launch in July this year.
To participate in the hackathon competition, applicants will be required to pitch a solution to one of fourteen ideas spread across these nine categories; e-government, e-health, e-agriculture, national security, cybercrime, oil & gas, education, environment and finances. They will then get a chance to pitch their solutions to a panel of judges at the event.
Entries to the competition must be submitted online on or before November 20, 2016, and applicants must apply as a team of not more than 3 persons or not less than 2 persons.
The goal of the event is to equip Nigerian youths for the next stage of economic transformation. This will be achieved by building the Nigeria Innovation Army (NIA) with the ability to respond to and engage future emergencies in various sectors. The aim is to build a framework that will become a dependable knowledge reservoir that is capable of curtailing and effectively responding to future crises or challenges.
There will also be a Google Developer Group event on November 19, 2016 which will serve as an accelerator to the upcoming open innovation hackathon 2016 in Asaba.
